Samigullin made the remark following a session with Iran's Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali on Thursday that the cultural and religious ties between the Tatarstan Republic and the Islamic Republic of Iran is very excellent and that the relationship will improve due to the warm ties between Moscow and Tehran.
He told IRNA that Muslims in Russian Federation have had friendly relation with their Iranian brothers. About 30 million people out of 146 million population of Russia are Muslims.
The mufti recalled that he visited Iran three times and that Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei received him each time. He expressed hope that he will travel to Iran in the future.
Tatarstan Republic publishes 250 volumes of books concerning Islam, jurisdiction, philosophy and Muftis in Russia annually, he added.
The republic is a part of the Volga Federal District. Its capital and largest city is Kazan, one of the most important cultural centers in Russia. Most of the population in Tatarstan are Muslims.
For his part, Iranian ambassador described Kamil hazrat Samigullin as an active figure, who has good know-how of religious teachings.
Jalali went on to say that the relationship between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Federation especially Tatarstan and Kazan is very good.
Tatarstan enjoys very proper cultural capacity and has very good cultural commonalities with Iran as well, he noted.
The ambassador has visited Kazan in order to take part in the 12th International Economic Summit Russia.
The summit kicked off on Wednesday in Kazan. The three-day event began with the opening ceremony of the "Russia Halal Expo."
Representatives of 28 Muslim nations, including the Islamic Republic of Iran, participate in the summit, which is being held virtually.
